Full time, fixed term for 12 months

The Department of Chemical Engineering is seeking a Research Fellow to join a join a multidisciplinary team performing internationally leading research into carbon capture and hydrogen production. This is an outstanding research programme that focuses on the development of advanced technological solutions, through process synthesis & design, modelling, and optimisation, which can have a transformative role in the energy sector in the decades to come.

You will be joining a research group to pursue a multimillion-pound pioneering research in combined CO2 capture and hydrogen production using highly reactive mid-temperature CO2 sorbents. Your research will be mainly centred on process synthesis & design, process modelling, and optimisation, in order to identify the best operational parameters corresponding to an energy-efficient yet feasible process. You will be employing experimentally obtained data to inform, optimise and validate the developed process models.

You should have a PhD in Chemical/Process Engineering or a closely related discipline. You are expected to have a strong foundation in low-carbon energy technologies as well as some experience in process design and modelling. Having a good background in experimental research in the area of adsorption-based carbon capture and/or hydrogen generation is an advantage.
