Full-time, fixed term (36 months)

We are looking for a postdoctoral scientist to work on the European Union-funded ATHENA project on new test methods for chemicals that disrupt the thyroid hormone system. The research involves network modelling to establish the impact of inhibition of thyroid hormone synthesis, conversion, transport etc on the entire thyroid hormone system. This will identify critical nodal points to be covered by new test systems and testing strategies.

You will have a PhD in the life and molecular sciences, with a background in endocrinology, toxicology, pharmacology or allied disciplines and knowledge of network modelling. Familiarity with the Adverse Outcome Pathway concept will be an additional asset.

Working with Professor Kortenkamp and his group you will become involved in project research related to modelling in support of the development of testing strategies for chemicals that disrupt the thyroid hormone system. You will play an important role in work which will shape future policies relevant to the protection of people from harmful chemicals. Further details about the ATHENA project can be found here: https://www.mdpi.com/1422-0067/21/9/3123

The post involves frequent travel to EU countries.

Informal enquiries can be made to Professor Andreas Kortenkamp at andreas.kortenkamp@brunel.ac.uk (no applications should be sent by email to this address)

Closing date for applications: Wednesday 30th September 2020
