The Department of Social Sciences in the Faculty of Arts, Design and Social Sciences (ADSS) is a vibrant research active department with a rich and diverse portfolio of social science research.

We are looking to recruit a Senior Research Assistant for 12 months to work with Dr Edmund Coleman-Fountain on an NIHR School for Social Care funded study of personal assistance, gender and sexuality. This is a collaborative study with Disability North, a user-led organisation in Newcastle, and Bristol University, the University of York, and Nottingham Trent University.

You will work with the project PI, Dr Edmund Coleman-Fountain and project partners, to contribute to the effective delivery of the project. Your role will involve 1) engaging with the study’s Project Advisory Group of disabled young adults to develop the research, 2) designing and undertaking research interviews and focus groups, and 3) contributing to the analysis of emerging study data.

To be eligible for this post you will have a PhD (or be near to completion) in sociology, disability studies, or a related social sciences discipline. Your experience of qualitative research will be essential for this post.
