WORCESTER COLLEGE
UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD

Learning Development Officer

Worcester College is seeking to appoint a fixed-term Learning Development Officer for a period of three years from 1 October 2020, or as soon as possible thereafter. The post is newly-created with the generous support of the Dorset Trust, and is designed to enable the development of a more equitable and inclusive teaching and learning environment in the College, in response to a changing demographic of admitted students. A core responsibility of the role will be the design and provision of study skills training for students at all levels, but the postholder will also be encouraged to contribute meaningfully to the promotion of a more inclusive learning and teaching environment in the College. The College’s goal is to create and nurture an environment which gives equal access to student success, and the Learning Development Officer will play a key role in this process.

The successful candidate will have experience of working with students from groups currently under-represented in Higher Education, and of designing teaching aimed specifically at supporting educationally disadvantaged and otherwise marginalized students. They will have a demonstrated commitment to fair access, inclusive and anti-racist pedagogies, and to the academic goals of the College.

Stipend will be in the range £29,176-£32,817 per annum, according to qualifications and experience. The postholder will be entitled to Senior Common Room membership, with free lunches and dinners when the kitchens are open.

Further particulars and information about how to apply can be obtained from the Worcester College website www.worc.ox.ac.uk/jobs. The closing date for applications is 9.00 am on Friday 4 September 2020. Informal enquiries may be made to the Assistant Academic Administrator.

In 2017 the Governing Body of Worcester College made a formal commitment to building a more socially and culturally diverse academic community. As part of our diversity strategy, we are actively seeking excellent candidates from groups which are under-represented on our academic staff: disabled candidates, black and minority ethnic candidates, and women of all ethnicities.
