At the Center for Regenerative Therapies Dresden (CRTD), an institute of the Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering (CMCB), the

Chair (W2) of iPS Cells and Neurodegenerative Diseases

is to be filled as soon as possible.

The CRTD (www.crt-dresden.de) consists of 19 research and junior research groups working on cell and tissue regeneration. It is the academic home for scientists from more than 30 nations. Their mission is to discover the principles of cell and tissue regeneration and leverage this for recognition, treatment and reversal of diseases. The CRTD links research to the clinic, scientists to clinicians to bring expertise in stem cells, gene-editing and regeneration towards innovative therapies for neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's disease, haematological diseases such as leukaemia, metabolic diseases such as diabetes, retina and bone diseases.

The chair is dedicated to basic research in the field of neurodegenerative diseases using stem cell modelling and is provided with excellent financial resources for research. We expect that you will represent the entire range of the research area in academic teaching. Your tasks include giving lectures in English and active participation in academic selfadministration. TU Dresden offers a productive environment for scientific collaboration including the Biotechnology Centre (BIOTEC) and the Center for Molecular Bioengineering (B CUBE), the Carl Gustav Carus Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Biology. The Dresden International Graduate School for Biomedicine and Bioengineering (www.digs-bb.de) as well as non-university research institutes such as the Max Planck Institute of Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics (www.mpi-cbg.de) or the Deutsches Zentrum für Neurodegenerative Erkrankungen e.V. (DZNE, www.dzne.de) offer additional opportunities for collaboration in the highly interactive research environment in Dresden.

We wish for applications from scientists with an excellent international reputation in disease modelling with induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) for diseases such as ALS and Parkinson's disease and the characterisation of cell biological and biochemical models of these diseases. The position requires teaching experience, an outstanding international track record in scientific research and publications as well as third-party funding. Applicants must fulfil the employment qualification requirements § 58 of the Act on the Autonomy of Institutions of Higher Education in the Free State of Saxony (SächsHSFG). The prerequisites for an appointment are a completed university degree, in natural sciences or medicine, a doctorate and a habilitation or equivalent qualification.

For further questions, please contact the head of the appointment committee, Prof. Dr. Gerd Kempermann, phone +49 351 210463700, email: Gerd.Kempermann@tu-dresden.de.

TU Dresden seeks to employ more female professors. Hence, we particularly encourage women to apply. Applications from disabled candidates or those requiring additional support are very welcome. The university is a certified family-friendly university and offers a Dual Career Service. If you have any questions about these topics, please contact the Equal Opportunities Officer of CMCB (Martin Kaßner, phone +49 351 458-82082) or the Representative of Employees with Disabilities (Roberto Lemmrich, phone +49 351 463-33175).

Please submit your application, including CV, description of the scientific career, a complete list of publications as well as a short-list of the ten most important publications, a list of funds received from third-party donors, a description of your teaching experience including the results of evaluations (preferably of the last three years) and a future research concept (no more than five pages) as well as a certified copy of the certificate of the highest academic degree until 03.09.2020 (stamped arrival date applies) as hard copy to: TU Dresden, CRTD, Herrn Prof. Dr. Gerd Kempermann, Tatzberg 41, 01307 Dresden and in electronic form via the TU Dresden SecureMail Portal https://securemail.tu-dresden.de by sending it to katrin.grosser@tu-dresden.de.
