We are looking to recruit two Research Assistants with a profile in machine learning and computer vision to join our growing research team. The successful candidate will be employed within the Lincoln AgriRobotics Centre as part of the Ceres-funded project “Fruitcast” developing an automated soft fruit yield forecasting system. The candidate will develop the next generation of computer vision and machine learning techniques for precise counting and prediction of fruit yield from the commercial farms. 

We are looking to recruit candidates with relevant experience and/or a strong interest in research areas such as machine learning, data science and computer vision. You must have excellent mathematical and coding skills (C++/Python) and prior experience with related software packages (e.g. OpenCV, PyTorch). Previous exposure to working with robotic systems is a plus. Candidates should possess a very good honours degree or Masters in Computer Science or a related discipline. Evidence of the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team, including excellent communication skills is also required.

You will have access to state-of-the-art research farms equipped with industrial standard fruit production facilities, as well as agricultural robots with advanced sensors and tools. Through the close collaboration with industry and academic partners, you will be embedded in an international consortium, with excellent opportunities to develop a strong individual research portfolio while being engaged in impactful and exciting research solving real-world problems.
