012585 Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor in Virology, School of Medicine ; Centre for Experimental Pathogen Host Research, 5 year contract

Applications are invited for a Senior Lecturer / Associate Professor of Virology within UCD Academic Centre for Experimental Pathogen Host Research (CEPHR) and UCD School of Medicine. Led by Professor Patrick Mallon, the UCD CEPHR was established in 2019 and brings together researchers and research groups from across UCD who focus on Infectious Diseases within the One Health context. CEPHR members comprise clinical, translational, statistical and biomedical researchers working interactively on aspects of host and pathogen research from the UCD School of Medicine, the UCD School of Veterinary Medicine, the UCD School of Biology and Biological Sciences, and the UCD School of Politics and International Relations. The academic research centre supports research from basic to clinical science in areas such as diagnostic virology, pathogen discovery, HIV infection and HIV cure, viral hepatitis infection and long-term consequences of chronic viral infections including co-morbidities. In particular, UCD CEPHR has a strategic, programmatic focus on translational research into HIV cure, focused on host immune responses, latency reversal and population eradication strategies.

The appointee will (i) develop and maintain competitive international research programmes in HIV molecular pathogenesis and HIV Cure, (ii) actively seek external funding from sources including but not limited to national and international funding agencies, (iii) supervise post-doctoral and student research activities including both undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.

In addition, the appointee will actively contribute to and strengthen UCD CEPHR strategic planning and development, oversee its Biosafety Level 3 laboratory management and participate in centre administrative activities.
The appointee will also take a leadership role in academic curriculum design, enhancement and implementation (including module coordination) in the field of virology, infectious diseases and One Health for UCD at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels.

**Salary Scale: €69,865 - €97,595 per annum
Appointment will be made on scale and in accordance with the Department of Finance guidelines
