We have a new opportunity for a Senior Research Fellow: Medicinal Chemistry to join our team in UniSA CRI.

The Senior Research Fellow: Medicinal Chemistry will provide research leadership and conduct high quality scientific research and reporting on research outcomes in line with research goals and milestones of the Drug Discovery and Development Research Group.

Essential Skills and Experience

The successful candidate will have;

  • A PhD in organic and medicinal chemistry with extensive knowledge of heterocyclic chemistry including experience with parallel and microwave-aided synthesis.
  • A high degree of expertise in medicinal chemistry with 6+ years drug discovery experience including identification of novel and patentable kinase inhibitors particularly CDK inhibitors for cancer treatment with demonstrated success.
  • Experience expertise in structure-activity relationship analysis and lead optimisation.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in undertaking quality research activities and providing research leadership to a level appropriate to the Senior Research Fellow classification level, and high-level experience writing up research findings for a variety of audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in chemistry laboratory management, including training and monitoring junior staff members and research students, maintaining laboratory equipment performance, developing operations, quality, and troubleshooting procedures and ensuring staff compliance.
