The Department of Environmental Sciences and Policy at Central European University (CEU) invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position. The SENTINEL project will last for three years, and we welcome applications from candidates who can commit to the entire three-year period.  

The initial contract is for one year with the possibility of renewal through the end of the project.

The successful candidate will be a full-time Postdoctoral Fellow for a research project under the Horizon2020 scheme. The purpose of the project is to develop a new modelling framework, "the Sustainable Energy Transitions Laboratory," in which separate models detailing the various specific aspects of the transition to a low-carbon energy system are combined. The postdoctoral fellow will assist Prof. Diana Urge-Vorsatz in leading a work package on modeling energy demand. 

Duties and responsibilities: 

The successful candidate will be the main CEU researcher on the project, guided by Prof. Diana Urge-Vorsatz. She/he will actively contribute to the project by (co-)developing the methodology, conducting the research and modeling work within the consortium and writing research reports as well as publications. The postdoctoral fellow will represent the project in selected professional meetings.

Qualifications: 

The ideal candidate has a recent PhD in engineering, computer science or a field of natural sciences with strong quantitative training, a certain level of modeling experience and some programming skills. Background in sustainable energy, climate change mitigation or energy demand is a plus.

Compensation

We offer a competitive salary that is commensurate with experience as well as a dynamic and international academic environment. The initial contract is for a one year with the possibility of renewal.
