Applications are invited for appointment as Tenure-Track Clinical Professor in the Department of Clinical Oncology (Ref.: 501731), to commence as soon as possible, on a four-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal and with consideration for tenure before the expiry of a second four-year fixed-term contract.

The Department of Clinical Oncology is an academic department specialized in a full spectrum of non-surgical cancer services including radiotherapy, chemotherapy, biological targeted therapy and palliative care. Please visit https://www.oncology.hku.hk/ for more information about the Department.

The key focus of the appointee’s research will be expanding the research potentials in the area of Radiation Oncology for the department.  The appointee will take the lead in setting up of a strong pilot team in Radiation Oncology, with specialized radiation oncology research facilities, such as Small Animal Radiation Research Platform (SARRP) for exploration of optimal combination of radiotherapy technique and dose-fractionation.

Applicants should possess a medical qualification registrable with the Medical Council of Hong Kong, and a higher professional qualification of Specialty Fellowship of The Hong Kong College of Radiologists in Clinical Oncology or equivalent.  They should have outstanding research achievement with evidence of international recognition, demonstrated leadership ability in teaching, curriculum development and research postgraduate education, as well as leadership and competence in their clinical specialty.  Direct communication with patients is required and the languages employed are English, Cantonese and Putonghua.

The appointee will establish and lead the research team in radiation oncology, as well as teach, organize and develop undergraduate and postgraduate programmes; conduct high-quality scholarly research; provide clinical services and training at the University's teaching hospital in Hong Kong and the HKU-Shenzhen Hospital; and contribute to administrative duties in the Department and the Faculty.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits.  At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income.  The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 15% of basic salary.  A start-up package that is commensurate with the needs and experience of the appointee will be provided.  Housing benefits will also be provided as applicable.
