Founded in 1956, Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU) seeks to be a leading research-led liberal arts University in Asia for the world delivering academic excellence in a caring, creative and global culture. Centre for Holistic Teaching and Learning (CHTL)

The Centre for Holistic Teaching and Learning is responsible for the promotion of the quality and scholarship of teaching and learning within the University and beyond. It works in close partnership with academic and professional colleagues both locally and internationally to foster student-centred, outcome-oriented and evidence-based teaching and learning at the University. It provides a wide range of staff development activities, collects evidence on students’ achievements of the graduate attributes to inform universities policies, develops and implements eLearning strategy and promotes innovative pedagogical and assessment methods (http://chtl.hkbu.edu.hk/main/).

The University is now looking for a dynamic and innovative leader to assume the position of:

Director (PR0043/20-21)

Reporting to the Vice-President (Teaching and Learning), the Director will play a leadership role in formulating and implementing the policies and strategies for teaching and learning at the University, including promotion of innovative pedagogies and assessment methods, staff development, quality assurance to inform the formal and co-curriculum, etc. at the University. The Director is expected to advance the scholarship of teaching and learning through cooperative efforts with both internal and external partners.

Applicants should be strongly committed and dedicated to teaching and learning, and enhancement of students’ learning experience. The successful candidate should be a strategic thinker, possess a good understanding of the landscape and latest development of higher education across the world, and be well-connected worldwide. He/She should have a proven record in pedagogical research on higher education and designing effective staff development programme, as well as a good command of knowledge about the latest educational technologies. He/She should have demonstrated leadership qualities and proven managerial experience in a related field. 

The successful candidate should have good academic and professional qualifications, preferably at a postgraduate degree level. He/She should possess effective communication and interpersonal skills, and excellent command of written and spoken English. Fluency in Chinese would be an asset.

Initial appointment will be offered on a fixed-term contract of three years. Re-appointment thereafter will be subject to mutual agreement and availability of funding.

Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
