EVENTS PLANNING ASSISTANTCenter for Environmental Health Sciences (CEHS) (ten-month, term appointment), to plan and coordinate center events, update website using Drupal, and perform administrative tasks.  Will develop e-newsletters, brochures, fliers, social media, etc.; coordinate and communicate information about events, seminars, poster sessions, meetings, symposium, workshops, etc.; handle event logistics, i.e., registration, determining schedules and venues, selecting caterers and menu, overseeing third-party vendors, etc., while being conscientious of the budget; help develop, maintain, and expand social media programs on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, etc.; and create biannual e-newsletters.  Will also use MIT’s B2P system for placing orders, purchase order lookup, and obtaining packing slips; and carry out routine administrative duties including filing, mail distribution, photocopying, ordering office supplies, schedule meetings, overseeing conference room (scheduling and notification), assisting colleagues with tasks in a team-oriented approach, and other miscellaneous office operations.  Must be able to work quickly, efficiently, and accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

Job Requirements

REQUIRED:  a high school diploma; at least three years’ related experience; excellent organizational, interpersonal, email management, and verbal and written communication skills; accuracy and close attention to detail; proficiency with typical office equipment, e.g., copiers, scanners, etc.; and willingness to learn new skills/technologies.  Must be able to prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously and follow through on assignments, work independently and as a part of a team with a diverse group of people, and function effectively in a fast-paced office with tight deadlines.  Proficiency with Windows, Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook), Photoshop, and Adobe Acrobat Professional strongly preferred; as is familiarity with design and/or website (DRUPAL) software.  A bachelor’s degree is also preferred.  Job #17724-5

This is a thirty-fiver hour a week, ten month term appointment (August 15, 2019-June 15, 2020).
