Job Description Summary

Responsible for day to day management of complex projects conducted with collaborators both internal and external to Penn. With mentoring from the Principal Investigator, the Research Project Manager will take leadership role in developing study protocols, writing grants, managing the detailed operations of projects, analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, cultivating close relationships with community partner organizations, and drafting/editing manuscripts for submission to peer-reviewed journal. He/she will help develop the team's research strategy and will have ample opportunities to lead projects and co-author papers. Will be required to ensure that studies/research are conducted safely and according to protocol, provide supervision to educators and teams conducting the study/interventions and collaborates with peers from other Universities and funding agencies. Will also be responsible for coordinating grant applications and interacts with funding administrators and the University Business Office. Provides significant contributions to presentations and manuscripts, including multiple drafts for review and dissemination. Plays a primary role in other dissemination activities related to project findings.

Job Description

The Project Manager A will work closely and provide high level of support to the Vice Chair for Research/ Director of the Center for Resuscitation Science. This position will serve in a leadership role for number of research studies. The position will have management responsibilities including budgetary oversight for two primary projects, the statewide HeartRescue Project, and the Penn Alliance for Therapeutic Hypothermia (PA TH) both of which are multi center projects. 

The responsibilities for the HeartRescue Project will require this position to manage and analyze statewide cardiac arrest data, as part of a national initiative (the HeartRescue consortium) focused on improving sudden cardiac arrest outcomes by increasing and improving measurement through a national data index. The data is collected through the Cardiac Arrest Registry to Enhance Survival (CARES), a national web-based cardiac arrest registry. The Project Manager will recruit and train EMS agencies and hospital sites as they join the HeartRescue Program throughout Pennsylvania, as well as manage and oversee all sites currently participating in the registry. This position is responsible for performing audits to ensure the quality of the data and prepare reports on a semi-annual basis. 

PATH is an on-line repository for studying cardiac arrest and post arrest therapies. This position will be responsible for overseeing all activities involving outside member institutions including recruitment, orientation, training, data entry, progress reviews and quarterly reports to State Agencies and annual progress reports to Sponsors. Will be responsible for supervising/managing 30+ hospital data entry staff for this multi­site program. Will also perform research studies based on different aspects of therapeutic hypothermia, including data analysis, literature reviews, manuscript and abstract preparation, and present data at meetings and conferences. Also, they will create and maintain required IRB documents and be responsible for planning/writing//implementing protocols, monitoring study enrollment, and meeting regulatory requirements from both Sponsor and the University. 

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree with 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required
