012538 UCD Post-Doctoral Research Fellow Level 1 or UCD Post-Doctoral Research Fellow Level 2, UCD School of Education, Fixed term post ending 31 August 2022

The UCD School of Education is seeking to appoint a postdoctoral researcher to join a research team who are undertaking a mixed methods evaluation of an intervention called Safe Learning in Sierra Leone, West Africa. The intervention is designed to support children's literacy, their rights, gender equality and well-being. The researcher will have strong qualitative and mixed methods analytical research skills. S/he will work alongside a team of two other post doctoral researchers in the analysis of the extensive data collected to date, in addition to assisting in the completion of the fieldwork in the final phase of the study. The researcher will be supervised and mentored by experienced faculty at UCD School of Education who are conducting the Safe Learning Study. All data collection will be conducted alongside local fieldworkers subcontracted through an external research agency in Sierra Leone. The postdoctoral researcher will also be required to conduct literature reviews as appropriate and write reports and academic publications based on the results whilst at UCD in Dublin.

Whilst this role is primarily desk-based, it may involve spending periods of time in rural parts of Sierra Leone (2-3 months spread out intermittently.) Both accommodation and transportation during any field-work will be provided by our funders Concern Worldwide ( Travel will only take place subject to approved travel guidelines light of the current Covid 19 pandemic. During the remainder of the time the researchers will be located at the UCD School of Education in Dublin. This post will provide the successful candidate with an outstanding opportunity to gain experience in large-scale project management, qualitative and mixed methods research into literacy, gender equality and well-being, development education and working in international contexts.

Salary range: €37,874 - €43,782 per annum (PD1)
Salary range: €45,041 - €49,049 per annum (PD2)

Appointment on the above range will be dependent on qualifications and experience
