The Stanford Cancer Institute (SCI) is one of an elite number of National Cancer Institute-Designated Comprehensive Cancer Centers in the country, and is a prominent, dynamic, growing and complex Institute within the Stanford University School of Medicine. The SCI actively works to build synergies and collaborations among faculty with cancer-relevant expertise from four Schools and over 30 departments across Stanford University.  We seek a Project Coordinator to help us enact our mission to reduce cancer mortality through comprehensive programs of cancer research, treatment, education and outreach.  Given the SCI’s mission, breadth, and depth, it employs over 325 staff members in a fast-paced, team-oriented, and forward-thinking environment with tremendous opportunities for personal and professional growth.  You will be working with an unparalleled leading-edge community of faculty and staff who are fundamentally changing the world of health care in the cancer arena. 

Reporting to Director, Research Strategy Development, the Project Coordinator, will be conversant in the goals, mission and priorities of the Institute, and utilize this knowledge to assist in coordinating existing and new activities including education, training and career enhancement activities at the Stanford Cancer Institute. 

We are seeking candidates with excellent organization skill, analytical, and demonstrated attention to details. Our staff runtoward challenges, and you will have a demonstrated history of doing the same with a high degree of professionalism, initiative and flexibility.  Responsibilities include collecting, tracking, and reporting on education and programmatic metrics across SCI programs and other newly formed initiatives to determine program effectiveness; formulate and evaluate alternative solutions and/or recommendations to achieve the goals of the program.  Draft website content and assist in creating and maintaining data for a comprehensive searchable online repository of career enhancement and education resources relevant to SCI members.  Develop and implement new programs for education, mentorship and continuing career development. Coordinates efforts between SCI and education counterparts across campus.

  • MS in biomedical related field
  • 3+ years of experience in combination of program management, education and/or data management and analysis.
  • Thorough knowledge of administrative and operations research.
  • Basic knowledge of health professions education industry, including the academic education environment.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organization skill, analytical, and demonstrated attention to details.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Federal funding mechanisms, e.g. the National Institute of Health (NIH), and the National Cancer Institute (NCI).
  • Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.), Adobe Creative Suite applications (Illustrator, Photoshop).


Bachelor's degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.
