Research Associate / PhD Student

(Subject to personal qualification employees are remunerated according to salary group E 13 TV-L)

limited until 30.06.2024. The period of employment is governed by Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz-WissZeitVG). The position entails 65 % of the fulltime weekly hours and aims at obtaining further academic qualification (PhD).

The successful applicant will work in the CRC subproject B5 (project leaders: Dr. Katharina Zwosta and Prof. Dr. Clemens Kirschbaum) which investigates the effects of acute and chronic stress on the cognitive and neural mechanisms of self-control and goal-directed behavior. To this end, healthy participants are subjected to a standardised procedure inducing acute stress and indicators of chronic stress are collected. The effects of stress are assessed behaviorally and neurally with functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI).

PhD Students participate in a CRC-funded graduate program including annual spring schools. The studies will be conducted at the Neuroimaging Centre (http://www.nic-tud.de) which is equipped with a fully research-dedicated 3T scanner.

Tasks: Participant recruitment; implementation of the experiments; project-based guidance of the student assistants; data analysis; publication and presentation of the results in scientific journals and at conferences

Requirements: university degree (MSc or diploma) in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience or a similar subject; strong interest in neuroscientific and biopsychological topics; excellent statistical and methodological skills; high proficiency in English; prior experience with fMRI and/or scientific publishing as well as programming skills (esp. Matlab) are advantageous.
