Director of Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Center for Health Sciences (ZCHS)

The United Arab Emirates University is seeking to appoint a highly qualified Director for the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Center for Health Sciences (ZCHS). The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work and collaborate with our fast-paced research team at the university. The Director is expected to work across disciplines and functions to advance the national agenda on health sciences. Reporting to the Associate Provost for Research, the ideal candidate for this position should have a proven record of success in conducting high quality research, administering research activities, attracting external funds, and leading services in the area of health sciences. The candidate should have excellent communication skills, provide support to senior leadership team, a self-starter, and willing to learn new skills and take on a variety of high-level assignments.

Responsibilities

The main responsibilities of the Director of the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Center for Health Sciences (ZCHS). include, among others:

• Develop a Strategic Plan for the Center.
• Develop the image of the Center to become a world-class renowned Center of Excellence in the area of Health Sciences.
• Foster the research productivity and scholarly outcomes of the ZCHS
• Develop research groups under the Center to submit research proposals to external funding bodies in the area of health sciences.
• Work closely with faculty and researchers at the University to develop strong interdisciplinary research collaboration among departments and colleges.
• Build partnership with local and international academic institutes.
• Attract and secure major external funding.
• Advocate the Center’s position on important health science issues.
• Develop health policy initiatives, provide support and feedback about potential new laws and regulations, and discuss issues facing the government.
• Develop in depth analysis and regular reports on health issues.
• Submit annual reports on the achievements of the Center.

Qualifications

• PhD degree in health sciences or related majors such as biochemistry.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience working in the field of health sciences or related fields.
• Proven record of conducting high quality research in related fields
• Excellent communication, presentation and writing skills.
• Demonstrating ability to prioritize multiple and competing priorities.
• Experience of leading research teams and successful completion of projects
