(Level D) $145,502 to $160,048 per annum plus an employer contribution of up to 17% superannuation may apply. A clinical loading of $32,380 is available for eligible dentists.

As a member of the leadership team in the Adelaide Dental School, the successful candidate will be an inspiring academic leader with extensive experience in clinical teaching within general dentistry. The role will significantly contribute to the design and delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate programs, and will mentor dentists in the supervision of students. The successful candidate will also have evidence of capacity to positively influence external stakeholders and a wide network of established relationships with key professional institutions to enhance the standing of the school by ensuring students receive an optimal clinical experience and overall learning outcomes. It is a requirement that the Associate Professor in General Practice will be able to provide clinical supervision of students in SA Dental Service city and suburban clinics and on occasions in rural areas.

To be successful you will need:

  • Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a general dentist and a PhD, or extensive experience in general dental practice/clinical dentistry.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, skills and leadership in teaching and curriculum development at the tertiary education level, and a proven ability in the management of University programs with a commitment to high quality teaching and clinical supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary academic and clinical environment and to provide leadership in this role through effective mentoring, communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and build effective relationships and partnerships both internally and externally that will continue to the success and standing of the School and University.
  • Extensive experience in managing teaching dental clinics.
