The School of Civil and Environmental Engineering invites applications for the position as Project Officer.

The Project Officer will support the research for the project: Stability Evaluation of Singapore Rocks in Response to Climate Change. This project focuses on understanding potential instability of rock mass due to sea level rise. The main task is laboratory experiment on rock fractures and implications for field observation. The position involves conducting research, supervising undergraduate students, and writing scientific articles.

Job Description:

  • Responsible for laboratory experiments on rock fracture instability due to fluid pressurization
  • Responsible for field observations and in-depth implications for rock instability in nature
  • Prepare technical reports, and write scientific papers

Job Requirements:

  • BSc degree in geotechnical engineering from a reputable university
  • Background in experimental rock mechanics, publications in top journals of rock mechanics will be given favorable consideration

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
