Role Description

We have an exciting opportunity for four new individuals to join the Education Services’ team, helping us to deliver academic administration and student support. These roles will be embedded within the School of Management (SoM), School of Water, Energy and Environment (SWEE) and Cranfield Defence and Security (CDS), all based at the Cranfield campus. Please refer to the Job Description for more information regarding each School.

As the UK’s only exclusively postgraduate university, Cranfield’s world-class expertise, large-scale facilities and unrivalled industry partnerships is creating leaders in technology and management globally.  Our distinctive expertise is in our deep understanding of technology and management and how these work together to benefit the world.

Our people are our most valuable resource and everyone has a role to play in shaping the future of our university, developing our learners, and transforming the businesses we work with. Learn more about Cranfield and our unique impact here. Our shared, stated values help to define who we are and underpin everything we do: Ambition; Impact; Respect; and Community. Find out more here.

We attract 4,500 masters and doctoral students each year from over 100 countries. Education Services provides a wide range of support to the University's Schools. The department’s strategic objectives are to provide a professional and efficient service to the University's Schools in all of these areas. A number of staff are embedded within a school and/or theme, and are focused directly on the front line delivery of course administration and student support.

You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of allocated academic administration and student support relating to taught and/or research students and for ensuring high levels of customer support. You will provide support to the SAS Manager and SAS Leads in the delivery and organisation of courses and their course elements.

You will play an important role in providing guidance to staff and students relating to the courses and programmes within the School, provide support for key University events in the student academic cycle and also those relating to student and course related events. The role will also include preparing and sending key communications to students, including virtual learning environments, lecture handouts and other course materials.

We are seeking someone who holds a minimum of 5 GCSE’s (or equivalent), including English and Maths. You will be IT literate, with experience of using Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. You will be adaptable and able to work on your own initiative, with excellent interpersonal skills and a strong work ethic, which on occasions will include working on your own initiative, unsupervised. You will be well-organised, have a firm understanding of excellent customer service delivery and have excellent communication skills. Attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure is key. Demonstrable experience of working in an administrative office environment, using modern office equipment and experience of data entry is essential.

At Cranfield we value Diversity and Inclusion, and aim to create and maintain a culture in which everyone can work and study together harmoniously with dignity and respect and realise their full potential.

Our equal opportunities and diversity monitoring has shown that women and minority ethnic groups are currently underrepresented within the university and so we actively encourage applications from eligible candidates from these groups.

We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking, and commit to exploring the possibilities for each role. Find out more here.
