The School of Law currently has an opportunity for a Principal Solicitor/Clinical Supervisor to join the Western Sydney University Justice Clinic, working with the Clinic Director. The Western Sydney University Justice Clinic is a legal education program of the School of Law Western Sydney University.

The Justice Clinic demonstrates the School of Law’s commitment to providing real opportunities for its students and a commitment to social justice.  Law students who undertake the Clinical Legal Placement (CLP) Unit work with practising solicitors providing advice, casework, law reform and policy work and community legal education.  The Justice Clinic also provides a free legal advice and referral service (the Student Legal Service) to current Western Sydney University students funded through Student Services Amenities Fees.

The Principal Solicitor/Clinical Supervisor will provide advice, casework and community legal education in relevant areas of law and will work in a community development model. This position teaches WSU School of Law students in a best practice clinical legal education model including classroom and individual teaching. The position may also involve overseeing students’ participation in Community Legal Centre (or other partner) advice sessions on a weekly basis.

The role provides legal advice to students accessing the Student Legal Service (SLS) 2 days per week and will work collaboratively with the Director of Clinical education to supervise WSU students undertaking the CLP Unit 3 days per week by supervising the provision of casework, law reform and policy work and community legal education with students in the Clinical Legal Placement Unit.    

This is a full-time, ongoing position based at the Parramatta City Campus.

Remuneration Package: Higher Education Worker Level 9 - $137,147 to $146,462 p.a. (comprising Salary $115,891 to $123,762 p.a., plus 17% Superannuation, plus Leave Loading).
