The Additive Microstructure Engineering Laboratory in the school of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at NTU (Singapore) is a young, diverse, and interdisciplinary research group with interests in microstructure control, structure-property relationships of polycrystalline metals, and additive manufacturing (AddME Lab). They have been awarded the National Research Foundation Fellowship to develop novel in-line monitoring techniques for selective laser melting and would like to seek a highly motivated individual to work on this project as Research Fellow.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop in-line monitoring techniques to characterize the materials during SLM processes
  • Assess the mechanical properties of produced materials

Requirements:

  • A Doctoral Degree in Materials Science and Engineering or Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering with experience and knowledge on the following areas:
  • In-line monitoring of SLM processes
  • SLM processes
  • Mechanics and mechanical testing of structural materials
  • Excellent level of spoken and written english
  • High quality publication record in relevant journals

The prestigious Lee Kuan Yew Postdoctoral Fellowship (LKY PDF) was established in 1991 under the Lee Kuan Yew Endowment Fund. The Fellowship supports and promotes young and outstanding researchers to realise their full potential in the areas of Engineering, Science, Humanities, and Medicine.

The Fellowship will be awarded concurrently with the candidate's appointment as a research staff in NTU.

Eligibility: 

• Excellent academic records and research potential.
• Recent PhD graduates, or with at most 1 postdoctoral training from a reputable university. 

Terms and Conditions: 
• The Fellowship will be tenable for a period of 3 years.  
• In addition to an attractive remuneration, the successful candidate will be awarded a research grant of S$180,000 for research consumables and research related expenditure.
