The mission of the Centre for Food Policy is to advance an integrated and inclusive approach to food policy that works for everyone, through education, research, and engagement with the world of food policy. The Centre is interdisciplinary and located in the School of Health Sciences, at City, University of London.
A Research Assistant is sought to join the Centre for Food Policy for 34 months for an exciting newly funded research project. The study is led by Professor Corinna Hawkes, along with other researchers at other academic institutions across the UK. The study will produce guidance to local London authorities on how they can adapt their existing obesity plans to reduce inequalities in obesity by improving the diets of children aged 4-11.
The role will involve supporting and conducting much of the research, Patient and Public Involvement (PPI) efforts, and dissemination activities such as creating the PPI engagement mechanism, developing a list of interventions and associated logic models, facilitating workshops, conducting the qualitative research and analysis, supporting quantitative data analysis, and supporting communications/dissemination activities.
The successful candidate will be proactive, with the passion, skills, and aptitude to work independently and help drive the project forward. The person will have proven experience working with low-income communities, facilitating groups/workshops for research purposes, and with qualitative data collection (ideally community-based participatory approaches) and thematic analysis. The successful candidate will also have some experience with quantitative data analysis and communication activities.
