Yeditepe University is offering a position for an Assistant Professor in Food Engineering or Food Science at the Department of Food Engineering. The core areas of activity for the Department include food safety and quality, sustainability in the food system, health and innovation. The faculty is engaged in teaching and research activities with strong collaboration with stakeholders focusing on the design and implementation of sustainable food systems. 

Job Description 

Perform duties essential to the efficient operation of the undergraduate program in the Food Engineering Department, which include teaching, advisement and research engagement. 

Successful candidates are expected to teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in English, conduct active and high quality research with focus on developing collaborations within and outside the university and creating impact for society and the food sector.

The position is offered in the field of food science/food engineering with a focus on one of the following research topics:

Sustainability in the food system

Healthy food product development

Food safety and quality

Food innovation

Scope of Responsibilities

Instructional responsibilities

Student advisement

Supervise student research and experiential learning

Develop and maintain an independent and active research program in Food Science/Engineering

Acquire external research funding

Expand the undergraduate program to a graduate level program

Contribute to the growth and development of the Department

Job Requirement

Earned doctorate degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering or a closely related field from an accredited institution

Teaching experience in higher education in food science, food engineering  or related areas

Experience in curriculum development and outcomes assessment for undergraduate and supervised practice programs 

Evidence of research excellence as demonstrated by publications in international, peer-reviewed journals

Experience in attracting external funding and managing funded projects

Post-doctoral or industry experience preferred

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

Communicate effectively with individuals and groups

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Proven ability to work with departments across all levels of the University

Contribute to development and implementation of university and campus strategic plan

Provide support for continuous process improvement of the academic programs and the department

Interact effectively with national leadership and organizations on behalf of the department

Contribute to the Strategic Plan for Food Engineering Department of Yeditepe University
