Overview

The School of Medical and Health Sciences is seeking to appoint an outstanding early career researcher for the position of Post-Doctoral Research Fellow in the Collaborative Genomics and Translation Research Group to work closely with our leading academics and our industry partners on an NHMRC funded research project.

Applications are invited for an 18-month Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biostatistics and Genetics of Alzheimer’s disease within the Collaborative Genomics and Translation Research Group within School of Medical and Health Sciences. You will be based at the Sarich Neuroscience Research Institute in Nedlands and work closely with research academics and collaborators, including those from the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), investigating the relationship between single nucleotide polymorphisms, DNA methylation patterns, lifestyle/clinical factors and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). You will investigate the nature of the relationships between genetic and epigenetic markers and changes in disease related biomarkers over time. A significant proportion of time will be spent identifying those genetic factors that, in combination with clinical and lifestyle risk factors, increase the likelihood of being diagnosed with AD or impact on disease progression.

Benefits & Remuneration

This full time, fixed term position attracts remuneration of $100,643 to $118,912 plus 9.5% University superannuation contribution.
