The Dean of Medical Faculty, Masaryk University, invites applications for the position of Postdoc / Assistant Professor for Department of Histology and Embryology

The Department of Histology and Embryology advances recent and longstanding education in medicine and life sciences, specifically developmental biology and embryology. Based on the research focus of the department, a new Master Programme “Embryologist in health care” will start in the academic year 2020/2021. The aim of this programme is to educate professionals, clinical embryologists, for centres of assisted reproduction. With an understanding of the importance of link among education, research and clinical practice, we build our team so that it is capable of providing students with thorough theoretical knowledge and practical competence needed for clinical embryologist. We are now looking for a new team member with relevant international research experience, knowledge of the clinical environment, specifically from the centres of assisted reproduction, and with significant teaching potential.

Expected role:

  • Research activities: basic and applied research in the area of reproductive biology and medicine, collaboration on research activities of the department
  • Preparing new educational materials for the master programme “Embryologist in health care” and participation in teaching of courses guaranteed by the department
  • Supervision of pregradual and PhD students


  • PhD in medical or life sciences
  • Excellent publication history – international publications expected
  • Experience with micromanipulation techniques (including vitrification of oocytes and embryos)
  • Experience with microscopy and advanced imaging
  • Experience with clinical research
  • Good overview of the research of reproduction medicine/healthcare (including membership in relevant research organizations)
  • Ability to work independently
  • Experience in supervision of pregradual students, including the guidance of Bc and Master thesis
  • Experience with working in international consortia (English fluency expected)
  • High motivation and willingness to cooperate with other teams
  • Capability to secure your research funding
  • International work experience (3 years at least) or PhD attained abroad
