Position Focus:

Reporting to the manager of HR Innovation and Strategic Support (HRISS), the HR Analyst position is key to contributing to improving Workday Human Capital Management (HCM), Benefits, Payroll, Training, and Academic processes and maximize efficiency to enhance system users’ experience. In accordance with Yale’s HR framework of a multi-tiered support model, serve as Tier 2, the first point of contact for initial questions and resolutions related to HR Technology inquires. The position will be responsible for a variety of other duties, which may include transaction review, reporting, and other human resources information technology-related functions and special assignments.

This is a temporary role with a duration of six months. 

Essential Duties

  1. Works effectively with the process owners to document the scope, requirements, objectives and performance targets.
  2. Elicits and writes requirements specifications according to standard templates, using natural language simply, clearly, unambiguously, and concisely.
  3. Decomposes business and user requirements into functional requirements. Defines quality attributes, external interfaces, constraints, and other nonfunctional requirements.
  4. Represents requirements using alternative views, such as analysis models (diagrams), prototypes, or scenarios.
  5. Compares functional specifications to functionality in commercial off-the-shelf software to identify appropriate matches
  6. Actively contributes in the testing and quality assurance process. Collaborates with developers and end-users to insure that application functionality meets client needs.
  7. Contributes in requirements prioritization and solution risk analysis
  8. Contributes to the communication planning/delivery and departmental readiness plan. Supports metrics integration and execution for optimal results.
  9. Contributes to the development and delivery of training to end users.
  10. May perform other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in business, technology or related field. Two years of related experience in analysis of business needs and development of related business systems or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Skill/Ability 1:

The ability to organize and manage multiple priorities with strong time management skills.

Required Skill/Ability 2:

Computer proficiency, including knowledge of Microsoft Excel. 

Required Skill/Ability 3:

Critical thinking and troubleshooting skills.

Required Skill/Ability 4:

Ability to work independently.

Required Skill/Ability 5:

Passionate about delivering excellence in customer service.

Preferred Licenses or Certifications:

HCM (Workday), BrassRing, Kronos, SalesForce, CRM and Training applications.
