The Department wishes to appoint a Lecturer (Academic Education Pathway [AEP]) in Medieval and Early Modern Spanish Studies for a period of 2 years.  The appointment will run from 1 September 2020.  The successful candidate will have a strong academic record appropriate for their career stage, and the potential to contribute to the Department’s research-enhanced teaching strategies.

The successful candidate will teach and mark two modules on Medieval and Early Modern Iberia: “Language Acts and Worldmaking in Medieval and Early Modern Spain” and “Sefarad: The Jews of Medieval Spain in Literary History and Cultural Memory”.  They will also contribute to the teaching and marking of co-taught interdisciplinary and cross-period modules, including the first-year modules “Global Iberias: Perspectives (An Introduction to the Spanish and Portuguese-Speaking Worlds)” and “Cultural Transformations: An Introduction to Modern Languages”. They will also contribute to the teaching and marking of core Spanish Language. Additionally, they will have an academic administrative role and undergraduate personal tutees.

According to the terms of the AEP, the scholarship component of the workload should not exceed 20% and is expected to be substantially education-focused

The selection process will include an online panel interview and presentation during week commencing 29 June 2020.

This post will be offered on a fixed-term contract for 2 years.
