Oncoplastic Breast Surgery Subspecialty Interest

We are looking to appoint an NIHR-funded Academic Clinical Lecturer in General Surgery with a subspecialty interest in Oncoplastic Breast Surgery to join a dynamic and successful team within the Bristol Centre for Surgical Research.

This post offers an exciting opportunity for integrated academic and clinical training to those who are advanced in their specialty training, have completed a research doctorate or equivalent in a relevant field and show outstanding potential for continuing a career in academic breast surgery. Doctors with speciality experience and who have completed a PhD/MD (or equivalent in a relevant field) are eligible to apply. Clinical Lectureships are designed for those who have already had a substantial period of clinical training, and for candidates working towards a CCT.

The successful applicant will be expected to continue to develop an academic career in health services research. This will include the design and delivery of prospective studies and randomised trials to establish an evidence base for oncoplastic breast surgery, within the themes relevant to the Centre for Surgical Research and further research activity including publications and grant submissions. They will be expected to maintain and consolidate competencies and experience as a specialist trainee in order to gain a CCT in General Surgery with a subspecialist interest in oncoplastic breast surgery, and to prepare a high-quality application for either new research or a post-doctoral or clinician scientist fellowship. They will also be expected to take part in and gain more experience of teaching in a variety of contexts.

Interviews will be held on 30th June 2020.
