Descended from the world’s first school of nursing, the Florence Nightingale Faculty of Nursing, Midwifery and Palliative Care is currently ranked first in the UK and second in the world for Nursing in the QS World University Subject Rankings. The Faculty was joined by the Cicely Saunders Institute of Palliative Care in 2017 and has grown to c.2000 undergraduates, 800 postgraduates and 300 staff. We have come a long way since our pioneers built our foundations, but our ambition remains, to shape the future of healthcare and to inspire the next generation of nurses and midwives.
King’s is looking to appoint an outstanding Executive Dean to lead the Faculty through the next stage of its evolution. The Executive Dean will be required to foster and support an environment that encourages the highest quality research and education, enhance the student-experience, and to nurture relationships internally and externally, including with our NHS and international partners.
The successful candidate will be a leader with experience of management and leading change, with a distinguished profile in a field relevant to the Faculty’s portfolio. They will bring a strong track record in research, education and professional achievement. Reporting to the Provost (Health) the Executive Dean will be a key member of the Academic Board, the Senior Management Team and the Health Faculties Executive Committee (HFEC).
