Post Doctor Streaming Potential Characterization of Piezoelectric Ceramics
About the position
We are announcing a Post Doctor position in the Functional Materials and Materials Chemistry group (FACET) at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU). FACET is a vibrant group within the Department of Material Science and Engineering concerned with research topics from active biomedical ceramics to functional topological systems, utilizing methodologies from synchrotron diffraction to density functional theory: https://www.ntnu.edu/ima/research/facet
The main scope of the open Post Doctor position is the development of a specialized streaming potential setup that allows the characterization of piezoelectric ceramics under mechanical loads. It covers a broad range of tasks from planning, building and optimizing the novel setup to synthesis and characterization of the piezoelectric ceramics. Training and supervision of the PhD students on the project is another essential task.
The position is embedded in and financed through the Nano2021 project “EPIC - Self-sufficient Electromechanical Implants: Enabling Piezoelectric Functionality for in vivo Devices”, which involves collaboration partners both at NTNU, in Austria and Germany.
The candidate must hold a PhD in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science and Engineering or equivalent.

Salary and conditions
The Post Doctor position is set to start at the 01.09.2020 and will run for 3 years. Women are especially encouraged to apply. Currently, the proportion of women in Post Doctor and researcher positions in FACET is 25%.
Postdoctoral candidates are placed in code 1352, and are normally remunerated at gross from NOK 542 400 per annum before tax, depending on qualifications and seniority. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.
The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU. After the appointment you must assume that there may be changes in the area of work.
It is a prerequisite you can be present at and accessible to the institution daily.
