We are seeking to appoint a quantitative social scientist in sociology, demography or a related discipline to the post of Research Associate from June 2020 or as soon as possible thereafter. The position is open ended with fixed funding for three years. The successful candidate will contribute to the research programme of the ESRC-funded Research Centre on Micro-Social Change (MiSoC https://www.iser.essex.ac.uk/misoc), hosted by the University of Essex in conjunction with researchers at the University of Bristol. The position will be based at the University of Bristol.
The successful candidate should have, or be close to completing, a PhD in social sciences and a strong quantitative background. They should have substantive interests related to MiSoC’s research themes of ‘Changing family life-courses and inequalities’ and/or ‘Inequality, the labour market and welfare policy,’ which are core aspects of the 2019-2024 MiSoC programme.
The postholder will be expected to contribute to all areas of research, including data cleaning, quantitative analysis, reviewing literature and co-authoring papers for highly ranked journals. They will also be expected to actively engage in impact and dissemination activities.
