The Role

The Marketing and Management Department at Durham University Business School seeks to appoint an exceptional independent Assistant Professor to the Creative Fuse North East 2.0 (fuse 2.0) project with research interests in the broad field of creative business, policy reform, education and the rural economy. This post contributes to the research strand of the Creative Fuse that is a partnership between five major University's in the North East and will involve working collaboratively across with our partners in the region to generate new knowledge and bring together existing research about creative work and the technology industries, that will be of benefit to people working in the Creative Digital Information Technology (CDIT) sector. Knowledge of the NE CDIT sector would be advantageous. This post offers an exciting opportunity to make a major contribution to the development of the Marketing and Management Department's research contributing to the Fuse 2.0 project and the successful candidate will be expected to make significant contributions to the outreach and impact of the project. The successful candidate will undertake research that: supports the needs of the region's creative industries; enhances Fuse2.0's commitment to diversity and inclusion, knowledge exchange and skills development; and advances our understanding of the creative industries in the utilisation and knowledge about technology. A critical understanding of the creative businesses in County Durham will be key in this role and the post would suit someone with a background in business and management studies, human geography, sociology, or similar disciplines. This post is considered to be independent and will be focused on research on the University's 'Research Track' career path, which provides clearly defined opportunities for progression against defined criteria.
