Role Description

Through the Cranfield 75th Anniversary Research Fellowship scheme, we are looking to provide a springboard for the future academic careers of some of the world’s most gifted researchers. We will give you the opportunity to conduct innovative research without the pressures to seek industry funding or teaching commitment. We will support and encourage you to seek prestigious public sector fellowship opportunities. All we ask is that you are brilliant.

Could you be a world-leading academic if only you had time to concentrate solely on your research? Are you bogged down by commitments that are not enabling you to make the kind of career progress you’d like to achieve? Are you on the verge of greatness but just need time and space to get on with your research?

If the answer is yes to the above, then a Cranfield University 75th Anniversary Fellowship could be for you.

In the run up to our 75th anniversary, we have launched a global academic talent search to recruit some of the world’s best up-and-coming research staff. We are looking for the best of the best early-career researchers, people with big research ideas who need the time and space to develop them further.

There are three potential routes to securing a Cranfield 75th Anniversary Fellowship:

  1. Apply for full funding through the Cranfield 75th Anniversary Fellowship scheme
  2. Apply having already identified an industrial sponsor to part fund your research;
  3. Apply having identified part fellowship funding from a public sector fellowship scheme

Cranfield 75th Anniversary Fellows will be within six years of their PhD (excluding career breaks) in a relevant subject within our existing themes of aerospace; defence and security; energy and power; environment and agrifood; manufacturing; transport systems; water; and management. You will have a developing research track record and have the opportunity to become an independent leader in your area of research. Throughout the programme, you will receive the support of a comprehensive training and career development programme.

Brilliant, talented researchers who are passionate about research in any of the areas of Cranfield’s research are invited to apply.

As the UK’s only exclusively postgraduate university, Cranfield’s world-class expertise, large-scale facilities and unrivalled industry partnerships is creating leaders in technology and management globally.  Our distinctive expertise is in our deep understanding of technology and management and how these work together to benefit the world.

We actively consider flexible working options such as part-time, compressed or flexible hours and/or an element of homeworking, and commit to exploring the possibilities for each role. Find out more here.
