We are a regional network of clinicians, public health and social care practitioners, policy makers, commissioners, service providers, charity and voluntary workers, lay members and researchers who are all focused on applied research and innovation to prevent illness, improve care and sustainability, promote population health and reduce health inequalities. The NENC Applied Research Collaboration (ARC) is hosted by the Northumberland, Tyne and Wear NHS Foundation Trust with partners across regional NHS, social care and higher education organisations.
The core funding provided by NIHR is £9 million for 5 years from 1st October 2019. However regional partners have contributed significant amounts of additional finance and support "in kind" from their staff in order to expand the capacity of ARC activities, enhance engagement and encourage early implementation of evidence-based recommendations.
