We are seeking an excellent academic to join our staff as Assistant Professor/Lecturer in Law, to support the delivery of our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in both law and criminology and to contribute to these programmes as needed. The ideal candidate will have an excellent knowledge of criminal law, criminal justice and the law of evidence. Preference will be given to applicants with teaching and/or professional experience in the fields of criminology/criminal justice.

The person appointed will have a proven record of teaching, research and publication, appropriate to career stage. The appointee will be expected to make a strong contribution to the teaching programme of the Department, to undertake teaching duties on the Department's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in law and criminology, to facilitate and supervise placements and research projects for students, and to supervise Master's and PhD students.

The appointees will be expected to build a strong research profile, that supports the University and Department research strategy, including affiliating to the Research Institutes, where appropriate and working with colleagues on national and international research. The appointees will be expected to sustain and conduct research, engage in scholarship of quality and substance and generate publications of international standard.

Assistant Professor/Lecturer (Post 1995) Salary Scale: €53,774 - €84,544 p.a. (7 points)
Assistant Lecturer (2019) Salary Scale: €34,065 - €59,789 p.a. (14 points)

Appointment will be made in accordance with the Department of Finance pay guidelines.

*New entrants to the public sector will be appointed on the first point of the above scale.
