Job description

We are seeking a high-quality candidate to support the GBP 30m expansion of engineering provision at the University of Central Lancashire. Candidates should demonstrate enthusiasm for either the subject of engineering or surveying, excellent communication skills and have experience of degree apprenticeships and an engineering or surveying industry background.

The successful candidate for this post will have either a BEng in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering or a BSc in Quantity Surveying (or a similar subject) and industry experience. You should also be able to demonstrate the ability to give advice regarding assessment of knowledge and skills in the workplace aligned to Mechanical and Electronic Engineering or Surveying related apprenticeship standard’s competency statements.

This role involves regular contact with employers and degree apprentices in the workplace to ensure the employer undertakes their responsibilities under the ESFA funding regulations regarding the apprentice’s role development. The Workplace coordinator is responsible for the planning and monitoring of learner achievements and retention through regular review meetings, ensuring that learning is taking place off-the-job and being applied within the apprentices' workplace in preparation for the End Point Assessment.

The roles will also involve contributing to the development of new degree apprenticeship courses in response to the increasing number of approved standards in the engineering and construction sectors.

The successful candidate will have prior experience in delivering degree apprenticeships and employer engagement and will support clients who are industrial partners of the Engineering Innovation Centre. Willingness to travel within the UK to undertake workplace visits is essential.

Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston but requires travel across a wide geographical area.
