Your new role

The Health Economics and Data Analytics Discipline (previously Health Systems and Health Economics) is a nurturing and innovative group that sits within the School of Public Health in the Faculty of Health Sciences at Curtin University. The Curtin team are at the forefront of Health Economics and Data Analytic research and are international leaders in their respective fields. The team are looking to expand their group and would like to invite applications for the position of Senior Lecturer in Health economics/ Health Policy.

In this role, you will strengthen the existing lines of teaching, research and leadership in the Health Economics and Data Analytics Discipline in the School of Public Health, and will contribute to the teaching of health economics and health policy at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. This post represents an excellent opportunity for an early career academic to further develop their teaching experience while advancing their research career.

You will have completed a PhD in health economics, statistics, health research or related topic. You must have relevant teaching experience and excellent communication skills, including teaching-related administrative experience.

In research, you will have demonstrated your ability to apply and deliver on research-funded activity, including proactively collaborating with stakeholders to develop high quality research outputs, which have relevance to academic, policy and practitioner audiences.

You will bring to the role

Essential

  • PhD in economics, statistics, health research or related topic
  • A very good knowledge of and practical experience in econometrics/statistics or in decision analytic modelling
  • Actively seeking and involved in research funding from external funding bodies and/or industry
  • Provide leadership and supervision to HDR students
  • Have experience in the effective design and development of discipline specific teaching and learning material across a range of delivery modes such as face-to-face, online and distributed learning
  • Lead and contribute to the development and delivery of courses (award and non-standard)  in health economics
  • Development or renewal of units, courses, modules or credentials through collaboration with stakeholders such as students, industry, community, global partners or other tertiary institutions
  • Willingness to work in an interdisciplinary team
  • Excellent command of English.

Desirable

  • Completion of a formal teaching qualification such as a Graduate Certificate in Learning and Teaching, or of a clinical / professional qualification awarded by a College or Society
  • Relevant research experience in the methods and application of economic evaluation.
