Job description

The Faculty of Health and Wellbeing, at the University of Central Lancashire, is recognised as a centre of excellence for world class patient-centred applied research. The Faculty of Health and Wellbeing’s exponential development over recent years has been driven by key senior appointments, including the Faculty’s Director of Research & Innovation, and the strategic development of a substantial and sustainable research infrastructure. There has been, and there will now be further, significant investment in the development of the Lancashire Clinical Trials Unit (CTU) and the recruitment of further outstanding researchers. Lancashire CTU provides expertise in the delivery of feasibility and evaluation trials, and other well-designed studies, relating to complex interventions.

We wish to recruit a Clinical Trials Manager to join our Trials Management Team to help support the delivery of our increasing trials portfolio. The Clinical Trials Manager will have a leading role in the planning, co-ordinating and completing of CTU projects; providing strategic, tactical and operational management skills in the set-up and implementation of CTU projects. The post holder will be responsible for ensuring effective trial management (under the leadership of the Senior Clinical Trials Manager) and good clinical practice; working within current legislative and governance frameworks.

The successful applicant will have significant experience in clinical trial activities and an understanding of current issues in the delivery of clinical trials research. A first degree (or equivalent professional qualification) in a relevant discipline and formal training in good Clinical Practice is essential as is detailed knowledge of the provisions of the Research Governance Framework and the EU clinical Trials Directive. Self-motivated and a good influencer, the post holder will work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team and have the ability to communicate highly complex information at all levels and overcome barriers to understanding.

Applicants need to meet all essential criteria on the person specification to be considered for interview. This position is based in Preston.
