Applications are invited for a 18 month EPSRC funded post-doctoral Research Fellow position in the area of nonlinear waves and integrable systems. 

The post holder will work on a research project  aimed at the development of analytical and numerical description of integrable turbulence in modulationally unstable wave systems and  exploring its connection with the extreme wave phenomena. The topic lies at the intersection of soliton theory, statistical mechanics and semi-classical analysis of nonlinear dispersive waves with applications to fibre optics and fluid mechanics. The project is lead by Prof. Gennady El and involves close collaboration with theoretical and experimental groups in France and USA.  

You will possess a PhD in Applied Mathematics or Theoretical Physics and will have substantial experience of conducting research and publishing in the areas relevant to the project.
