The University of Bristol is seeking a History specialist to work as a Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor for the Postgraduate Certificate of Education in Secondary History, in the School of Education.  The position is available on, an open-ended basis, at 0.6 FTE from the 2nd September 2020. The successful candidate will lead the History PGCE programme, working collaboratively with the dedicated History PGCE team, within the Secondary PGCE team as a whole; and as part of a network of professional and associate tutors in partnership schools. We share a common concern to educate the next generation of outstanding teachers. 

Excellent teaching, creativity in the classroom, and an interest in educational theory and scholarship will be valued at Bristol, where we prize these attributes. You will have substantial experience of teaching History in British schools and will be familiar with the regulatory and professional environment in which teachers operate. Your demonstrable interest in supporting the development of colleagues and in management roles will have prepared you for a leadership post in formal teacher education. Evidence of scholarly work and a postgraduate qualification will be essential. 

The post is located on Pathway Three and will be appointed at either Profile 3d1 (Senior Lecturer, grade L) or Profile Level 3d2 (Associate Professor, grade L) of the University’s Academic Pathways depending on relevant experience, skills and knowledge of the successful candidate.
