RESEARCH, EDUCATION, AND TRAINING ASSOCIATE, Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL)-Global-Research, Education, and Training (RET) Group, to develop new tools for J-PAL research projects, e.g., code, packages, programs, etc.  Will think systematically about RCT data, its properties, and how it’s used by surveying users and reading research papers; assist in creating resources/teaching materials/software tools to develop internal staff capacity and plan, organize, and deliver training courses to cultivate a network of like-minded external stakeholders; document and prepare research datasets for publication and build tools that streamline and facilitate these tasks for research partners; research and design teaching modules and prepare presentations, case studies, and manuals on randomized evaluation methods; assist in planning, organizing, and conducting in-person courses/workshops; conduct data analysis for user surveys and A/B experiments that test the relative effectiveness of different pedagogies for J-PAL’s online courses; serve as a TA for advanced courses; and maintain tracking, monitoring, and evaluation systems for training programs, research publications, and online courses. 

Job Requirements
REQUIRED
:  bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in economics, political science, education, public policy, international development, or related field; training in and strong technical understanding of randomized impact evaluations; two years’ work experience (may include experience gained as an undergraduate); experience in quantitative data analysis, economics, or related discipline; interest in poverty alleviation policy/research as demonstrated by coursework and/or study or work abroad; knowledge of data management, data analysis, and econometrics; solid command of (or willingness to learn) Stata or knowledge of R or other analytics programs; and MS Office proficiency (PowerPoint, Excel). PREFERRED: experience cleaning and analyzing large, complex datasets; LaTeX knowledge; exposure to MATLAB, Python, or Julia; and experience conducting field research in developing countries.  Job #18510
