Job description
9 month fixed term, part time (21.75 FTE)
A part time (21.75 hours per week), fixed term contract opportunity has arisen for a Research Degrees Administrator to join the Research and Innovation Office, which supports research activity across the University to achieve the aims of our Strategy 2020. Based in our Merchiston campus, the role holder will join our Research and Innovation Office Research Degrees Team in supporting academics and research students across all schools.
The Role
The role holder will provide effective administrative support to research degree processes within the Research and Innovation Office.
The role holder will act as a point of contact for research degree matters, ensuring that all enquiries receive a timely response. Provide advice, information and guidance to students and academic colleagues across all stages of the research degree life cycle and any associated matters. Provide advice and support to administrative colleagues in Schools at all stages of the research degree administrative process. They will also respond to external enquiries from prospective research students and external examiners.
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Experience of University Administration
- Experience of SITS research student management system or equivalent system
- Experience of dealing with confidential material
- Experience of data analysis, synthesis and report writing
- Effective organisational skills demonstrated by a proven ability to successfully initiate, manage and complete projects
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to communicate with a wide range of people at all levels
The suggested working pattern is 3 days per week, but there may be some flexibility.
