Job description

An exciting opportunity has now arisen within the Oasis Faith and Spirituality Centre for a Supporting Muslim Chaplain to join our highly committed chaplaincy team.

Working within a committed and enthusiastic team you will provide pastoral and spiritual support to those of all faiths and none, where appropriate, while fostering an environment of mutual respect, tolerance and understanding. You will focus on providing opportunities for worship, study and prayer for staff and students as required. You will work as a member of the Oasis Chaplaincy Team within the Student Support Services in support of Student Wellbeing as well as maintaining good working relationships with other departments.

Your main role is to support the head Imam and be available every Friday between 12pm – 3pm for the organisation, setting and leading of both Friday Prayers. Additionally, you must be flexible and be able to work out of office hours if required (e.g. Friday Prayers during holidays, etc.).

You must possess excellent communication and presentation skills; be confident in speaking to a large audience and be effective in delivering the Friday Sermons.

Qualifications: Applicants should have a full Islamic Theology Degree (Aalimiyyah) from a reputable Islamic Institute and be able to recite according to the laws of Tajweed.

The Multi-faith team is based at the Oasis Faith and Spirituality Centre and is part of UCLan’s Student Services.
