Future U is the Lancashire consortium’s approach to the National Collaborative Outreach Programme, a HEFCE-funded project aimed at increasing participation in higher education. Future U is a very targeted programme, engaging with specific cohorts of students with the overarching aim of improving participation rates at Higher Education (HE) and progression rates towards HE.

The Lancashire consortium comprises Edge Hill University, Lancaster University, University of Central Lancashire and University of Cumbria, alongside a range of Further Education (FE) Colleges, independent companies, local authorities and the Lancashire LEP. The project team will be based at the University of Central Lancashire, but will be working for the consortium.

We are looking to appoint an Evaluation Officer to complete the evaluation of the project in order to continuously monitor project impacts and efficacy. The post holder will plan and develop a robust and continuous evaluation strategy for the Future U programme to enable the success and impact of the programme to be tracked and evidenced.

The successful applicant will have experience of using evaluation to assess the impact of interventions in a HE or FE environment and will have a detailed understanding of how to collect meaningful qualitative and quantitative data. A thorough understanding of statistical analysis is essential along with experience of designing using surveys, focus groups and semi-structured interviews to collect data. Experience using software to analyse data including, Prism, SPSS and N Vivo is also required.

Educated to master’s degree level or equivalent, the successful applicant will be able to communicate with a variety of audiences, including primary school children, teachers and secondary/FE students, anticipating and responding to needs appropriately.

DBS clearance is required for this post and should be in place prior to appointment.
