This is an exciting opportunity to join the Centre for Academic Mental Health at the Department of Population Health Sciences, Bristol Medical School and the MRC Integrative Epidemiology Unit at the University of Bristol. You will primarily take a lead on providing support to a research project funded by the US National Institutes of Health investigating the maternal outcomes related to antiepileptic/mood stabilizing medications during pregnancy and the possibility of adverse neurodevelopmental outcomes in the exposed children. The work will involve the analysis of data from the Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) including the application of several methods of strengthening causal inference. You will have the opportunity to closely work with other researchers employed on this project within an active international collaboration between the University of Bristol, Drexel University (Philadelphia, USA) and Karolinska Institute (Sweden). The role provides an excellent opportunity to develop skills in advanced epidemiological research and causal inference methods in a cross-disciplinary international environment. Training and mentorship will be available to meet the specific aims of the project as well as your overall career development. Applications are welcome from individuals who have recently completed or about to submit their PhDs or more experienced post-doctoral researchers, the appointment will be made at the relevant grade based on previous experience. Applicants for research fellow grade will be expected to articulate their future plans and how these would be a good fit for the aims of the research group. Part time or job shares/split posts can be accommodated, and more than one appointment may be made if there are candidates with a complementary skill mix appropriate for the job.
