- 12 month fixed-term contract with a base salary from$105,198 - $118,639p.a.plus superannuation
About the opportunity
Focusing on excellence in student service provision, the Counsellor provides specialised psychological and wellbeing services using evidence-based and best practice strategies. The Counsellor requires participation in building the Counselling and Psychological Service’s profile and its capacity to work strategically, collaboratively and effectively with key stakeholders in prevention, triage, one-to-one clinical counselling and referral to internal and /or external providers within a stepped care framework.

- expertise in the assessment and treatment of a wide range of biopsychosocial problems including, core competencies in mental health assessment and management using evidence-based interventions
- the capacity to contribute to service policy and procedures to achieve psychological and wellbeing quality outcomes
- commitment to best-practice short-term interventions within a stepped-care wellbeing and student experience framework
- knowledge of the higher education system and demonstrated excellence in service commitment and experience in dealingwith specific concerns of diverse student cohorts
- the capacity to create and evaluate interventions, outreach programs and workshops relevant to the promotion ofstudent mental health and wellbeing alongside training and consultation to teaching, administrative and support staff
- the ability to work independently, flexibly and as part of an interdisciplinary team, taking initiative and exercising soundjudgement in resolving matters that may arise as part of normal daily work, pressure setbacks and changing service contexts
- the ability to display personal integrity; maintain confidentiality, and work cooperatively and flexibly withevolving organic service requirements
- excellence in interpersonal and communication skills both written and oral including publicspeaking/presentation skills including the ability to build effective working relationships with colleagues, clients and keycontacts across the University
- the ability to devise and implement systems, protocols, and procedures; good knowledge of database, word processing,collating data and writing reports. Computer literacy skills and proficiency with suing Information technology. Research skillsis desirable
- the ability to manage time and resources effectively to achieve planned objectives and meet competing deadlines in acomplex, high volume work environment.

Counselling and Psychological Services (CAPS) focuses on promoting student well-being, and the development of skills required to succeed at university across the student life-cycle. The interventions provided are time-limited and based on recognised stepped care best practice principles. It also works on partnerships and collaborative programs with faculties and other student service providers in order to enhance student wellbeing, success and the overall student experience
