The Department and role purpose

Durham Chemistry is one of the very best UK departments with an outstanding reputation for excellence in teaching, and research. Ranked 1st for research impact in the last UK Government's Research Excellence Framework (REF2014). The Department is ranked in the Top 100 according to the QS World University Rankings 2019 and is 3rd in the Complete University Guide 2018. Our research spans the range of organic, inorganic, physical and theoretical chemistry. In particular, the Department has a strong research in profile in synthetic inorganic chemistry, theoretical chemistry, and surface science, supported by state-of-the-art analytical and experimental facilities.

Applications are invited for a Laboratory Technician to work in the research group led by Professor J. P. S. Badyal FRS. Research in the group is focused on the technological and societal applications of functional surfaces. The post-holder will be expected to prepare and test antibacterial coatings for industrial companies.
