Special Scientist Position in RF/Microwaves and Antennas for the design of Advanced Reconfigurable Metasurfaces

JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Cyprus (UCY), announces vacancies for two full-time Special Scientist positions in the Advanced RF Electronics Centre for Adaptive Metamaterials (RF-META) project (http://rf-meta.ucy.ac.cy/) funded by the Research and Innovation Foundation (RIF) of Cyprus. The ideal candidate will have experience in RF/microwaves, antennas and photonics.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The candidate will be involved in the development of reconfigurable metasurfaces using electronic and photonic techniques. This will involve the theoretical and physical design of fixed-beam and pattern reconfigurable prototypes in the C-band and in the Ka-band. The Special Scientist will report directly to Prof. Marco Antoniades and Prof. Stavros Iezekiel.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Design and simulation of reconfigurable metamaterial structures (metasurfaces).
• Fabrication and testing of prototypes
• Close interaction and collaboration with other researchers in the RF-META project.
• Collaboration and support of the team at UCY towards the implementation of research objectives.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

• Bachelors degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Physics or a related discipline.
• Relevant research experience in RF/microwaves, antennas and photonics.
• Excellent command of the English language (written and verbal).
• Excellent organisation, time management, collaboration and communication skills.

EMPLOYMENT TERMS:

The monthly gross salary for full-time employment (140 hrs/month) is in the range of €1500-2500 (€10,81/hr €17,86/hr). From this amount employer and employee contributions to the various Government Funds will be deducted. The salary will vary depending on experience and qualifications. The initial contract is for one (1) year with the possibility of renewal based on successful progress. 13th salary is not provided.
