Exciting opportunity to contribute to research and informed and emerging models of educational delivery in the School of Computer Science

The Education Specialist will sit within the School of Computer Science and will have a strong focus on teaching excellence, student engagement and online course development and delivery.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a high level of teaching expertise and positive student feedback through the use of innovative strategies and teaching pedagogy that delivers outstanding results for students in a collaborative and dynamic learning environment. The role will have a particular emphasis on online course development and delivery through University partners, converting existing material and developing new material for the School’s undergraduate and Masters programs.

The academic workload associated with this Education Specialist position will include a commitment of 61% - 90% of time to teaching and teaching related duties such as course review and development (including scholarship).  Actual workload allocation within the band will be determined by the Head of School through the School’s workload allocation model.

The opportunity for the successful candidate to apply for affiliate membership of the Adelaide Education Academy subsequent to appointment will be available. Membership in the Academy provides further professional development opportunities to education specialists.

To be successful you will need:

  • An undergraduate degree in computer science and a PhD (or equivalent experience) in a relevant area.
  • Demonstrated effective lecturing techniques and a commitment to excellence in teaching.
  • A willingness and ability to teach into a variety of undergraduate and masters level subjects in Computer Science, Software Engineering and Information Technology.
  • Evidence of teaching innovation and an appreciation of opportunities through curriculum development and renewal.
  • Experience and an interest in online course development and delivery.
